This historical drama is definitely one of the films to watch before you die.  Released on 5th August 1960, the film remained the highest grossing Bollywood films of all time for 15 years. Directed by K. Asif, the film stars Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Prithviraj Kapoor and Durga Khote in the lead roles. It depicts the everlasting love story of Mughal prince Salim and a court dancer Anarkali.

Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the film stars Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan in main roles, where the legend Khanna plays the title role of Anand. DDLJ is a romantic film released in 1995. Produced by Yash Chopra and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, it brought back the epoch of love stories to Hindi cinema. The story revolves around Raj and Simran who fall in love during vacation trip in Europe and thereafter Raj’s efforts to win’s Simran’s family’s heart so that they can marry with the consent of both the families.

This 2001 Indian epic sports-drama produced by Amir Khan and directed by Ashutosh Gowarkar is set in the pre independence Victorian time and also shows the nation’s biggest sports – passion , Cricket. Starring Amir Khan and Gracy Singh , the movie got nominated for the Academy award for the best film in foreign language. It also got place in the lists like “All Time 25 Best Sports Movies” and “The 100 Best Films of World Cinema”.

One of the best movies depicting the real emotions of true friendship between three friends, two (R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi) of whom recall their college days and discuss how the third one (Amir Khan) inspired them to think different, despite the world calling them as idiots. Upon release, it had the highest opening day collection till that time and held the record for the highest net collections in the first week for a Bollywood film.

Directed by Zoya Akhtar , the film features the star cast including Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol. Loosely inspired by Hollywood film Hangover, it shows the story of three friends who decide to have bachelor’s party and go to Spain making their fantasy vacation turn into reality . The film also shows Running of the bulls and Tomatina festival which become an important attraction.

You can actually relive your friendship days by watching this movie. It shows how three friends sharing a strong bond are torn apart due their different approaches towards relationships. Released in 2001 and directed by Farhan Akhtar, the film won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. It stars Saif Ali Khan , Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta , Akshaye Khanna, Dimple Kapadia and Sonali Kulkarni.

  1. Munna Bhai MBBS

Based on the English movie Patch Adams, this one is a must watch in the films to watch before you die list. It was released in 1998 and revolves around the story of lead protagonist Munna Bhai, played by Sanjay Dutt who plays the role of a goon going to medical college and how his life gets complicated due to one lie. The role of his sidekick Circuit (played by Arshad Warsi) also got huge appreciation. It won several awards and became a Blockbuster at the Box Office.
